The Hancock County Sheriff's Office fingerprinting page explains the full process for scheduling a background check. You must register online for an appointment before you show up. Download, print, and fill out the "Request for Background Check" form. Bring it with you to the office at 200 West Crawford St., Findlay, OH 45840. Your ORC code must be on the form. The law requires it.
Appointment slots are limited. Fingerprinting is available on Mondays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and Fridays from 1:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Each slot lasts 15 minutes. Use the online calendar to book your time. If you miss your slot, you will need to reschedule. The office does not take walk-ins for fingerprinting outside of these set times.
You must bring a valid form of ID. The Sheriff's Office accepts a state-issued photo ID, valid driver's license, state-issued ID card, military ID card, or U.S. passport. If your Social Security number is not on the ID you bring, you also need your Social Security card. No exceptions.
Hancock County Background Check Fees
Payment at the Hancock County Sheriff's Office can be made by exact cash, a local Hancock County check, or credit card. Credit card payments carry a fee of 3% of the total or a minimum of $2.00 per transaction. BCI and FBI check fees are set by the state and the Sheriff's Office. Confirm the exact amount when you book your appointment since fees can change.
You must also provide complete and correct information about the agency that will receive your results. This includes the agency name, contact person, full street address with city, state, and zip code, and fax number. The ORC number for your specific type of check is required by law.
